A Worthy Work in Progress
We are human and make mistakes, have conflicts, etc. AND...we are still Imago Dei.
Hey Family:
I’ve been thinking a lot about what it means to truly believe we are worthy of love, joy, peace, grace, and goodness. Admittedly, it’s way too easy to look at our circumstances, the mistakes we’ve made, and even the harm done TO us, and draw the wrong conclusion about who we inherently are.
The truth is, we are human. So the mistakes, conflicts, challenges we experience are inevitable. We are constantly reconciling the needs of our hearts, minds, and spirits and, sometimes, many times, we won’t get it right. Plus, if trauma is part of your story then it’s likely that your brain has been rewired to believe that what happened to you was somehow the result of you lacking value.
Nah. Nope. No.
None of that has anything to do with who God created you to be. You are worthy because you are Imago Dei, made in the image of God. Period. Owning that and operating in life like you believe it’s true is a huge step in the healing process. Let’s try to take that step this week, ok?
It won’t be easy but as the saying goes, “You are allowed to be both a masterpiece and a work in progress simultaneously.”
Be well,
